Neil Features on New Murray Music Club CD

Launch of Murray Music Club CD
IDENTITY

The Murray Music Club CD Recording project is about to be launched with a concert featuring all the recording artists at Arts Space Wodonga on Saturday August 11th at 2.00pm.

The compilation CD titled IDENTITY is a record of 15 original songs that were chosen from 42 songs submitted earlier this year. Recording and production of the CD was completed in late June. 35 musicians have contributed to the recording of songs written by local songwriters including Neil Higgins, Isobel Sanger, Luke Davies, Meg Heywood-Dodsworth, Michael Bishop, Kerryn Beatty, Lachlan Smith, Rosie Haden, Will Arnold, Stephen Case, Sue Ellen White, Peter Klein, Helen Begley, Jack Mancor and Kate Grealy. Songwriters were eligible to submit a song if they performed at Murray Music Club in the past 2 years as a featured artist or open mic musician.

The project received funding from City of Wodonga, Albury City, Regional Arts NSW Country Arts Support Program and the Ruth Whyte Memorial Bequest.

The songwriters have been funded to record their song at Professional Audio Services recording studio in Wodonga. Co producers of the album, Karen Roben and Jack Jensen are very pleased with the sound and look of the final CD product. "The songs and the sound production is superb. The project has provided some great opportunities and pathways for the musicians with the experience of a professional recording and the offer of further performances." Ms. Roben said. "There is a variety of styles including Folk and Blues to Classical to Emo and Rock Grunge. Although the songs cover a broad range of topics, there is something about the local culture reflected in all of them."

500 copies of IDENTITY will be manufactured and available for sale at just $15.00.The CD's will be available for sale at good local music shops, cultural and tourism outlets and at Murray Arts and Murray Music Club.

There will be a gala dinner for contributors to the project at The Lounge Café Bar (home of the Murray Music Club) on Saturday night following the concert.

The monthly Murray Music Club event to be held the following day Sunday 12th August at The Lounge from 2.00pm will feature many of the recording project participants playing their B-side songs. Open mic will operate as usual for all comers.
