The 'Postmasters Office' Australian Music Tour
supports local Hospitals across Victoria

 

Locals will have a chance to listen to a feast of Australian Music and support their local Hospital as the 'Postmasters Office' Australian Music Tour comes your way during March & April, performing 20 concerts in public & Town Halls across many parts in Victoria.


The concerts being staged comprise of Original, Traditional & Contemporary styles of all 'Australian Music' performed by Award winning musicians, passionate about what Australia & Australian music means to them.


The line up consists of Singer/Songwriter 'Neil Higgins' perfoming Musica` Australiana with both original and classic contemporary Australian written songs. Mandolinist and Vocalist Nobby McManus with his bushband 'The Blowflys' playing up-tempo & many traditional songs of Australia. Also performing is 'Kenny Joe Blake', a soulful Australian Singer/ Songwriter & harmonica extraordinaire, delivering many of his own songs, written about stuff that means something.


Not only will you hear some unearthed original songs but there will be a blend of some Australian classics, previously made popular by the likes of 'Banjo Patterson', 'Henry Lawson', the 'Redgum Band', 'Slim Dusty', 'Paul Kelly', the 'Dingoes', 'Australian Crawl', and many more.


Locals will get a chance hear one of their own with a local performing artist opening the concert with a 20 minute performance.


Being sponsored by a federal governemt initiative called the Contemporary Music Touring Program (CMTP), The 'Postmasters Office' tour organizers have been able to present the show at a very affordable box office ticket price and offer 50% of all ticket sales to the local hospital within the towns they play. The presenters realise & understand the difficulties experienced in country areas and are pleased to assist in this way.


Local Hospital CEO's have been enthusiastically looking forward to the show and are extremely appreciative of the fundraising format as there is no financial outlay required from the hospital towards staging the event. With this format they are hoping on a large attendance and with good local support.


The Contemporary Music Touring Program (CMTP), aims to give all Australians, wherever they live, better access to some of the country's best live contemporary music. The Australian Government is proud to be associated with the 'Postmasters Office' Australian Music Tour and with Neil Higgins', Nobby McManus & the Blowflys' and Kenny Joe Blakes' performance.


'Plan Australia' have also offered their support & expertise to the tour in the way of editorial and media release and see potential in supporting such a grass roots Australian musical production. This tour across country Vic. provides for a genuine engaging approach with some Australian cultural fulfillment.


The Tour begins in Corryong on Thursday 10th March and winds it's way through the heart of Vic out as far as St Arnaud and concludes on Sunday, 3rd April at the Stanley Hall in Stanley, up in the States N/E.
